Virginia Bolton

Virginia Fouche Bolton (1929 - 2004) was active/lived in South Carolina.  Virginia Bolton is known for Southern people, genre, environs.

An important member of South Carolina's art community for over forty years, Virginia Fouché Bolton is a graduate of Winthrop College. In 1951 she married and settled in Mt. Pleasant. Ten years, and five children later she began teaching at the St. John the Baptist parochial school. Teaching everything from English to science, Bolton soon went on to Moultrie and Wando High Schools where her teaching career expanded to art classes. For nearly 19 years she taught in the Charleston community, where her students chalked up numerous state and national awards, and many pursued art related careers. In 1976, Bolton opened her own gallery.

Her colorful scenes of Charleston, its people, and environs have documented changes in the city for decades. While Bolton is known primarily for her watercolor scenes, this portrait exemplifies the depth of her skill and technique as an artist.
